Gabriela M. Sanchez was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1977. She studied at the University of Los Andes in Colombia and the University of Caracas in Venezuela, where she graduated with a degree in journalism. In 2005 she co-founded the literary magazine Granta en Venezuela and has been involved in several other cultural initiatives ever since
In 2007 she published her first novel, Roja, which was a bestseller and won numerous prizes. In 2010 she received a grant from the French government to attend a literary workshop at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
The key to happiness is loving yourself. For years I have struggled to reach this point and even now at the age of 20 I will be honest in saying I am not 100% there yet. However, I will say I am much closer to that 100 than I was 5 years ago.Gabriela M. Sanchez
